TL;DR:

  • OpenPayd integrated with Circle Payments Network to offer near-instant cross-border fiat payments to businesses through a single API.
  • The network uses regulated stablecoins like USDC and EURC as a settlement layer. End users operate in traditional fiat currencies.
  • Corridors such as euro to Brazilian real or British pound to Mexican peso already settle in seconds thanks to Circle’s infrastructure.

OpenPayd, a financial infrastructure provider, announced its integration with Circle Payments Network (CPN) to deliver near-instant cross-border fiat payments aimed at businesses. The integration works through a single API connection and does not require clients to manage or build their own blockchain infrastructure.

CPN operates as a coordination layer that connects financial institutions to orchestrate international payments using regulated stablecoins, specifically USDC and EURC. The network is operated by Circle Technology Services, LLC, an affiliate of Circle Internet Group, Inc., a company listed on the NYSE under the symbol CRCL. Its mechanism combines the speed of blockchain settlement with the reach of existing banking systems and local payment rails.

OpenPayd’s Speed Is Key

The integration is already active across various live corridors. Payments from euros to Brazilian reals and from British pounds to Mexican pesos settle in a matter of seconds, according to the company. Clients can continue sending and receiving conventional fiat currencies, while the stablecoin infrastructure handles settlement in the background without requiring direct exposure to the crypto ecosystem.

Irfan Ganchi, Senior Vice President of Product Management, Payments at Circle, noted that connecting to CPN removes the complexity of managing multiple payment technologies and allows businesses to operate in the fiat currencies they already use with the speed inherent to stablecoin settlement.

Michael Treacy, Director of Business Development at OpenPayd, emphasized that when money becomes fully programmable and moves like software, a unique opportunity emerges to expand the digital economy. He also added that combining both infrastructures delivers faster international payments today and builds the foundations of tomorrow’s financial services.

Tomorrow’s Infrastructure

The integration supports OpenPayd’s goal of building a universal financial infrastructure for the digital economy, providing simultaneous access to domestic payment rails, international banking networks, and stablecoin infrastructure from a single system.
