Luxor Technology raised $16 million in a strategic funding round led by CMT Digital to expand its computing infrastructure operations and develop new services related to artificial intelligence.

The investment included participation from Canaan, MicroBT, Halo, and Steelhead, along with several angel investors. The company will use the proceeds to expand its cloud computing platform, increase its hardware supply capacity, and hire additional staff.

Luxor provides services to Bitcoin mining companies such as Canaan and TeraWulf. It also operates a computer hardware distribution business. In recent months, the company has expanded into supplying GPUs and servers designed for artificial intelligence applications.

Luxor Expands Its Artificial Intelligence Infrastructure

The company plans to use part of the funding to develop its agentic AI cloud platform and expand its compute derivatives trading services.

Its hardware supply business will also receive investment. Luxor aims to improve access to graphics processing units and servers for companies developing artificial intelligence applications. Global chip supply chains are becoming increasingly difficult to navigate.

In September, the company launched Luxor AI, a division that uses the hardware, software, and compute trading infrastructure originally developed for Bitcoin mining.

The division provides services for the artificial intelligence and high-performance computing (HPC) markets, using some of the tools Luxor already offered to its Bitcoin mining clients.

Nick Hansen, co-founder and CEO of Luxor, explained that mining companies, power facilities, and capital previously dedicated to digital mining are also beginning to be used to run artificial intelligence workloads.

The company intends to expand its operations in both markets and develop tools for trading computing capacity, alongside its traditional services for miners.

Luxor had previously secured funding to expand its Bitcoin mining business. In June 2021, it completed a $5 million Series A funding round led by NYDIG, aimed at strengthening its operations in North America.

Investors that participated in its earlier funding rounds also included Celsius, Valour, and Bitnomial.
