COTI confirmed that the gcEVM implementation, based on Garbled Circuits, has been live on mainnet since March 2025 and has processed more than 125 million transactions on-chain.
Unlike single-purpose privacy protocols, which protect a closed menu of actions such as asset transfers, the solution allows any developer to deploy an arbitrary program that computes over end-to-end encrypted data, without revealing amounts, positions, or business logic to the network.
The mechanism is based on secure multi-party computation: data is encrypted before reaching the network, computation occurs over ciphertext, and the result is decrypted on the client side using each user’s own AES key. No node or validator accesses the plaintext. According to the developers, the implementation runs up to 3,000 times faster and is 250 times lighter than other alternative privacy solutions, offering full EVM compatibility without requiring specialized hardware.
Use cases such as payroll contracts, sealed auctions, and liquidations are already running on the protocol. Bancor uses COTI to encrypt its execution thresholds and protect arbitrage strategies from front-running. VaccineLedger processed more than 10 million supply chain transactions in Bangladesh for less than $5 in total costs.
Avishay Yanai, co-founder of Soda Labs, the cryptographic team behind the protocol, noted that currently only two networks feature general-purpose privacy at the protocol level in production: COTI and Starknet.
