COTI introduced its “Private DeFi” framework as the category that, according to the company, will define the future of decentralized finance. Its central argument is that the full transparency of public blockchains exposes the balances, transactions and strategies of any user, representing a real cost for individuals, institutions and artificial intelligence agents operating on-chain.
COTI’s proposal revolves around a simple concept: the same DeFi ecosystem that already exists, but with built-in privacy. To that end, the company developed its Privacy Portal, an interface that allows users to convert public tokens into protected versions in a single step, offering support for assets such as USDT, USDC.e, wETH and wBTC, among others. The company also launched an independently audited Private ERC20 standard, support for private NFTs through a MetaMask snap, and privacy tools for AI agents.
The technical infrastructure underpinning all of this is Garbled Circuits, a cryptographic multiparty computation protocol that COTI describes as up to 3,000 times faster and 250 times lighter than other alternative privacy approaches. That makes it executable on any device without relying on specialized hardware.
COTI’s positioning is already nearly mainstream within the industry. Firms such as a16z crypto have identified privacy as one of the defining themes for 2026. The company also announced plans to extend its privacy capabilities to other L1 and L2 networks, so that any token, application or project can offer data protection without migrating to a different ecosystem.
