Canton allows institutions to control who can access transaction data while incorporating safeguards designed to meet regulatory requirements.

Attendees also discussed the importance of programmable financial data that can be shared across applications without compromising transaction confidentiality.

Continuous Settlement and Tokenized Assets

The summit also examined the development of markets capable of operating 24/7, with collateral transfers and settlements no longer restricted by traditional trading hours.

Use cases discussed included tokenized deposits, cross-border payments, and the use of stablecoins to purchase tokenized U.S. Treasury securities.

DTCC is working to bring U.S. Treasuries and equities onto Canton, while other financial institutions are developing applications for trading and settlement on the network.

Participants also discussed interoperability between systems and the use of artificial intelligence agents to manage corporate liquidity, execute payments, and oversee treasury investments.
