VeChain unveiled a series of updates for 2026 covering artificial intelligence, open source code and ecosystem expansion. The company released VeBetterDAO as open source, making its entire stack available in a single GitHub repository so developers can review, improve and extend the platform without relying on closed internal updates.

The VeBetterDAO ecosystem already counts more than 5.3 million users, over 50 active applications and more than 50 million verified sustainable actions.

On network metrics, VeChain reported 14.8 million wallets across its ecosystem, with 1,839 new wallets registered in a single day and a burn of 319,971 VTHO that reflects sustained activity on VeChainThor. StarGate, the network’s staking system, holds approximately 14.1 billion VET tokens locked, consolidating the transition from the Proof of Authority model to public Delegated Proof of Stake.

The Interstellar upgrade introduces EVM compatibility with the Cancun, Prague, Fusaka and Glamsterdam standards, along with JSON-RPC support that allows tools such as Hardhat, Foundry, MetaMask and Ethers.js to be used directly on VeChainThor.

Artificial intelligence agents are central to the roadmap: the network plans to integrate the Model Context Protocol so these agents can read on-chain data, query smart contracts and initiate transactions within limits defined by their operators.
