TL;DR

  • David Schwartz believes AI agents could manage payments and other everyday financial transactions through XRP Ledger infrastructure.
  • XRPL AI Hub recorded approximately 13.49 million automated transactions across 168 merchants, although the total settlement amounts were relatively small.
  • Schwartz also warned that the Xaman Foundation’s X account may have been compromised and used to promote an alleged XAMAN airdrop.

David Schwartz, Ripple’s CTO Emeritus, suggested that artificial intelligence agents could manage users’ everyday finances through applications connected to XRP Ledger (XRPL).

During an interview with Thinking Crypto, Schwartz explained that autonomous tools could execute financial transactions without requiring users to interact directly with exchanges, wallets, or decentralized applications.

His proposal envisions a system in which users define their needs and limits, while AI agents handle the corresponding transactions.

The former CTO also highlighted the potential of tokenization and the reduction of regulatory barriers to make blockchain-based financial services more accessible.

However, Schwartz did not announce any Ripple product that currently allows users to delegate the management of bank accounts or investment portfolios to autonomous agents.

Schwartz Envisions Expanding the Use of AI Agents on XRP Ledger

Although autonomous personal finance management remains a future possibility, XRP Ledger already processes automated payments between applications and artificial intelligence agents.

In June, Ripple introduced its AI Starter Kit, a tool that enables developers to build applications using the x402 payment protocol to purchase computing resources, access APIs, and pay for other digital services.

This infrastructure supports payments in XRP and RLUSD, Ripple’s stablecoin, without requiring a person to manually authorize every individual transaction.

According to data published by XRPL AI Hub, approximately 13.49 million automated transactions across 168 merchants had been recorded by October 11.

However, the cumulative settlement amounts were much smaller than the transaction count might suggest: approximately 6,982 XRP and 12,010 RLUSD.

This indicates that much of the activity involved micropayments for digital services rather than large financial transfers.

For services priced in dollars, RLUSD also allows agents to make payments without being directly exposed to fluctuations in XRP’s price.

Ripple is also working to simplify wallet access through its partnership with Privy, which aims to integrate XRP Ledger wallets directly into applications.

Autonomous management of personal funds would require additional safeguards, including verifiable authorizations, spending limits, and mechanisms to prevent unauthorized transactions.

Warning Over a Potential Scam Involving Xaman Foundation

Separately, Schwartz warned the XRP community that the Xaman Foundation’s X account may have been compromised. The account is associated with Xaman, a self-custody wallet.

The former CTO said the account could be compromised or used for fraudulent purposes after it published messages promoting an alleged XAMAN airdrop on XRP Ledger.

The post invited XRP holders and wallet users to check their eligibility to receive tokens and claim their allocations directly on the blockchain.

Several community members complained about repetitive messages and persistent mentions associated with the promotion.

Schwartz publicly flagged the account as potentially compromised or fraudulent, although he did not explain what specific evidence prompted his warning.

Hours later, the account identified as @Xaman_FDNT was suspended on X following complaints from community members.

Available information does not confirm that the Xaman application or funds held in its wallets were compromised.
