Pi Network has expanded SoloHost inside Pi Desktop with two featured applications, OpenClaw and Atlassian MCP Server, extending the platform beyond blockchain node operations. The additions first appeared alongside Node 0.6.2 and are now being highlighted as examples of how Pi wants node infrastructure to support broader computing tasks. The bigger shift is Pi Network’s attempt to turn idle node resources into a practical application layer for AI and developer tools. SoloHost, introduced on Pi2Day, lets third-party developers publish self-hosted applications that Pioneers can launch directly through Pi Desktop across the broader Pi ecosystem in the coming months.

SoloHost broadens Pi Desktop beyond blockchain infrastructure

OpenClaw is the broader consumer-facing addition. The locally run AI agent can assist with tasks using either an AI model hosted on the user’s computer or external services such as ChatGPT and Claude. Its memory remains stored locally in both cases, although requests sent to cloud models are still processed by those providers. The notable design choice is that SoloHost runs OpenClaw inside a container that limits default access to unrelated files and resources. Pi Desktop also automates much of the setup, reducing the need for users to manually configure servers, Docker environments or supporting infrastructure.

Atlassian MCP Server targets developers and professional teams rather than general users. The application lets users operate a local Model Context Protocol server and connect compatible AI tools with Jira, giving Pi Desktop a route into workplace automation and software-development workflows. This is a more specialized integration, but it signals that SoloHost is being positioned as infrastructure for both personal AI agents and professional tooling. OpenClaw also joins Hermes, another local AI agent already available through SoloHost, widening the set of applications that can run on computing resources maintained by Pi node operators.

The scale Pi is targeting is potentially substantial. SoloHost could theoretically give third-party developers access to a network of more than 420,000 claimed node operators while giving Pioneers additional uses for hardware they already run. That creates an unusual bridge between blockchain participation and distributed application hosting. The expansion also arrives after Pi changed pricing for its App Studio model, moving away from subsidized rates to reflect actual AI service costs. That pricing adjustment went live on August 24, adding an economic change alongside the technical push toward broader AI and computing utility.
