TL;DR:

  • KuCoin launched a crypto card in Australia, offering crypto payments through the Mastercard network using USDC.
  • The card operates through Immersve, a principal Mastercard member, and converts digital assets to fiat currency at the point of purchase.
  • The launch was made possible by KuCoin’s registration with AUSTRAC in November 2025: the card is compatible with Apple Pay and Google Pay.

KuCoin strengthened its brand in the Australian market with the launch of KuCard, a crypto payments card integrated into Mastercard’s global network. The announcement was made in Sydney, and the card is available to eligible users in Australia through a partnership with Immersve, a payments firm and principal member of the Mastercard network.

KuCard’s mechanism works as follows: USDC funds everyday spending in real time at any merchant that accepts Mastercard. At the moment of payment, digital assets are automatically converted to fiat currency for settlement, without requiring the user to manually pre-convert funds. It currently supports 37 trading pairs with USDC. The card works both in physical format and through Apple Pay and Google Pay.

KuCoin: A Bridge Between Crypto and Real-World Commerce

This launch is key to the exchange’s strategy in the country. In November 2025, KuCoin’s local subsidiary completed its registration as a Digital Currency Exchange with AUSTRAC, Australia’s anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing supervisory body. The platform also operates an independent partnership with Echuca Trading, holder of an Australian Financial Services Licence, for its offering of regulated crypto futures.

BC Wong, CEO of KuCoin, noted that the launch “demonstrates the company’s commitment to responsible innovation and the everyday utility of digital assets.” James Pinch, the exchange’s managing director in Australia, described the card as a bridge between digital assets and real-world commerce through a familiar payment experience.

A Network Switch for the Exchange

Regarding the infrastructure behind the new product, Jerome Faury, CEO of Immersve, framed the partnership as part of a collaborative effort to connect on-chain assets with the traditional retail payments system. Christian Rau, Senior Vice President of Digital Commercialization at Mastercard, described the collaboration as a demonstration of the network’s commitment to responsible innovation in the Web3 world.

It is worth noting that the original KuCard, launched in the European Economic Area in November 2023, operated on the Visa network. The deployment in Australia marked a network switch for the exchange.
