One of the leading entertainment companies, Paramount Pictures, has filed two Web3 related trademarks for its 2004 teen comedy movie, Mean Girls. The trademarks suggest the movie may make a come back in the form of “crypto-collectibles” and non-fungible tokens (NFTs).
Web3 is changing the way we consume the internet. From sectors ranging from, finance to movies, Web3, has become a common vocabulary for multi billion dollar companies and street artists, alike. Web3 is widening our perspective that will propel curiosity, adoption, investment and usage for the digital ecosystem. Recently motosport racing behemoth, Formula One, announced that it has registered NFT and virtual reality (metaverse) trademarks for the Las Vegas Strip Circuit, expected to take place in November 2023.

A Digital World is Dawning Upon Us
It seems Web3, blockchain technology and NFTs could provide new avenues for the film industry. Individuals and businesses can harness the power of ecommerce in Web3, watch movies, interact with each other and also play games. Several filmakers are now making a beeline for Web3.
Not just the entertainment sector but ultra luxury fashion houses such as Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Tiffany are entering the Web3 with much pomp. To streamline the process of buying, selling or trading non-fungible tokens (NFTs), electronics juggernaut, Samsung and LG have recently launched a new line up of smart televisions.
Recently, People Power Party (PPP), the ruling party of South Korea, announced a “Metaverse Industry Promotion Law” in a bid to boost the Web3 sector. The law will aim at laying the foundation for various policies and regulations related to the metaverse.
However, Ethereum co-founder, Vitalik Buterin, claimed that the concept of metaverse is still at a fledgeling phase. He suggested that aggresive corporate attempts to construct the metaverse will fail as the digital ecosystem is still at a nascent stage and people do not yet “know” what the metaverse should look like.
