TL;DR
- Price Outlook: Bitfinex expects Bitcoin to trade between $81,300 and $84,400 ahead of the 28 October FOMC decision, with profit-taking potentially limiting upside near resistance.
- ETF Demand: Net ETF inflows totaled $526.7 million on 19 October, followed by another $23.2 million session, reinforcing the importance of institutional buying for a potential breakout above $84,000.
- Market Structure: Rising futures open interest, stable CME participation, stronger on-chain support clusters, and healthy profitability metrics continue to support a constructive near-term market outlook.
Bitcoin continued to hold key support levels despite several attempts to push prices lower, according to the latest market outlook from Bitfinex. Analysts expect the asset to remain within a range of $81,300 to $84,400 ahead of the Federal Open Market Committee meeting scheduled for 28 October. Although the upper end of that range remains within reach, profit-taking activity from short-term traders could create resistance before a decisive breakout emerges.
Market Holds Firm Ahead of Fed Decision
Bitfinex said Bitcoin has repeatedly defended range lows, with buyers stepping in during periods of weakness. Recent trading activity has remained relatively stable between $81,724 and $83,470 despite a surge in institutional inflows and growing market participation. The report noted that Bitcoin remains below the average ETF investor cost basis of $84,333.
Analysts view this level as an important threshold because continued demand near current prices could support a move toward the top of the projected range. At the same time, options positioning and dealer activity suggest traders may continue defending both sides of the current trading band through the coming days.

ETF Demand and Leverage Support Bullish Case
A major focus remains institutional demand. Net ETF inflows reached $526.7 million on 19 October, led by BlackRock’s IBIT with $665.2 million. Another $23.2 million followed on 20 October, reinforcing the view that spot demand remains active. Bitfinex highlighted that consecutive inflow sessions could be the catalyst needed for Bitcoin to break above the $84,000 resistance area. Analysts stressed that sustained ETF buying remains one of the most important signals to monitor in the near term.
Meanwhile, futures open interest climbed 4.2 percent to 645,410 BTC from the low recorded on 12 October. Bitcoin also continues to benefit from stable institutional participation, with CME open interest holding near 112,000 BTC. Funding rates have normalized to annualized levels between 7 percent and 9 percent, indicating moderate leveraged long exposure rather than excessive speculation.
On-Chain Data Shows Strengthening Support
On-chain metrics indicate that Bitcoin holders are gradually shifting supply into higher cost-basis zones. Data showed 62,000 BTC leaving the $80,353 cost-basis band, while 145,000 BTC moved into the $82,224 level. This development points to stronger support between $82,200 and $83,200. Bitfinex added that Bitcoin profitability metrics remain constructive, with the STH-SOPR near 1.003 and roughly 70% of supply currently in profit. Analysts believe continued ETF demand, stable leverage conditions, and supportive macro sentiment could help Bitcoin challenge $84,400. A breakdown below $81,300, however, could increase the risk of a move toward $79,821.
