Bitcoin Nears 900,000 Daily Transactions, Ranking Among Its Busiest Days Ever

TL;DR

  • Bitcoin recorded 893,391 transactions in a single day, its fourth-highest daily volume in the history of the network.
  • Daily activity grew 23.4% compared to the previous session and more than doubled versus the same day last year.
  • Nearly 80% of transactions in 2026 correspond to transfers below 0.01 BTC, according to CryptoQuant data.

Bitcoin reached the fourth-highest daily transaction volume in its history on September 7, 2026, with 893,391 confirmed operations on the base chain.

The figure was reported by Galaxy Research, which placed that session among the most active since the network began operating in 2009. The firm noted that the total surpassed 99% of all daily readings recorded to date, though it did not identify a specific event, protocol, or group of users as responsible for the increase.

YCharts recorded the same figure and documented a 23.4% increase compared to the 723,854 transactions from the previous day. Against the 441,035 operations on the same day in 2025, activity more than doubled, with an approximate rise of 102.6%.

Other Record Figures for Bitcoin

Data from Blockchair indicates that on June 23, 2026, the Bitcoin network had already processed 862,979 transactions, which at the time represented the third-highest historical record. The June average reached 651,655 daily transactions, 90% above the equivalent average for 2025. By contrast, the daily median during that year was 417,151, 18% lower than in 2024.

Bitcoin’s previous all-time record corresponds to April 23, 2024, with 927,010 transactions, followed by September 8 of that same year, with 910,083.

Small Transfers, Large Volume

CryptoQuant linked much of 2026’s growth to low-value transfers. Operations below 0.01 BTC accounted for approximately 80% of total transactions, up from the 44% recorded in 2023. Julio Moreno, the firm’s head of research, clarified that the economic value of those operations remains low relative to their share of the total.

The Blockchain.com dashboard offers a complementary view: while 893,000 transactions were being recorded, active addresses fell 10.7% to around 415,000. The value transferred reached approximately $3.36 billion, an increase of 33.8%, while total network fees declined 8.1%, to around $191,073. More transactions did not, in this case, translate into higher fee revenue.

BitInfoCharts recorded a median fee close to 0.0000024 BTC, equivalent to approximately $0.19, with a median transfer value of roughly $34.69. Galaxy Research did not attribute Bitcoin’s September 2026 peak to Ordinals, Runes, or any other specific protocol.
