TL;DR
- AI Security: Binance said its AI-powered security systems protected more than 8 million users and prevented approximately $4.6 billion in potential losses during the first half of 2026.
- Account Protection: The platform uses an eight-layer security framework that includes alerts, OTP verification, passkeys, facial recognition, withdrawal controls, and forced logout features.
- Additional Safeguards: Binance supports users through educational resources and the SAFU emergency fund, which holds about $1 billion for extreme security-related situations.
Binance reported that its multi-layered security framework helped protect more than 8 million users and prevented approximately $4.6 billion in potential losses during the first half of 2026. The company said its approach combines artificial intelligence, account-level protections, user education, and emergency reserves to address threats across different stages of the user experience. According to Binance, security does not rely on a single solution. Instead, several systems work together to identify risks, respond to suspicious activity, and help users make safer decisions when managing digital assets.
AI Systems Drive Threat Detection
A major part of the security effort comes from AI-assisted risk systems operating in real time. Binance said more than 100 AI models support its anti-fraud and anti-scam controls, analyzing activity and identifying threats before they reach users. During the first six months of 2026, Binance intercepted millions of phishing and scam attempts, blacklisted more than 42,000 malicious addresses, and generated over 14,000 real-time warnings every day.
The company noted that these AI models now make between 80% and 90% of real-time risk decisions, with human reviewers focusing on cases that require additional judgment. According to Binance, this combination of automated analysis and human oversight played a key role in preventing billions of dollars in potential losses and strengthening platform security.

Eight Layers of Account Protection
Beyond AI monitoring, the exchange operates an eight-level account protection system designed to respond to different levels of risk. These measures include multi-channel alerts, one-time password verification, roaming verification for unusual login activity, passkey authentication, facial recognition checks, forced logouts, suspicious withdrawal rejection, and temporary withdrawal blocks when necessary.
The platform said these protections are powered by a real-time risk detection engine that aims to maintain both security and usability. Binance explained that safeguards are applied in proportion to the perceived threat level, helping reduce the impact of attempted account takeovers or unauthorized transactions.
Education and SAFU Add Extra Protection
The final layers of the security strategy focus on user awareness and financial protection. Binance highlighted its Secure Asset Fund for Users, known as SAFU, which was established in 2018 and currently holds approximately $1 billion. The reserve is intended to help compensate users in extreme situations involving security breaches or platform-level incidents.
At the same time, Binance continues to publish educational content covering emerging scam tactics and offers risk management training through Binance Academy. The company emphasized that informed users remain an important part of the overall security model. By combining technology, account safeguards, education, and the SAFU reserve, Binance aims to strengthen protection across its ecosystem.
