Kalshi, the prediction markets platform, is in advanced negotiations to raise approximately $1 billion in a new funding round that would value the company at $40 billion, according to Reuters. The deal would mark nearly double the valuation the company achieved just four months ago.
According to sources close to the process cited by Reuters, Sequoia Capital and Wellington Management are in talks to lead the round. Tiger Global Management and Dragoneer Investment Group may also participate as investors. None of the companies involved responded to or commented on the matter.
Kalshi’s Path Toward a New Valuation
Kalshi closed its Series F in May 2026, a round of $1 billion that set its valuation at $22 billion and doubled the figure recorded the previous December. The pace of growth has been steady: the first reports of a potential $40 billion valuation emerged in June, when the Financial Times reported on the 24th of that month that the company was seeking funds at that figure and could close the deal before the end of the third quarter of 2026.
Prediction markets have grown strongly in popularity in recent years, driven in part by regulatory attention and institutional interest in financial instruments that allow betting on real-world events.
Did It Triple Its Valuation?
Kalshi, which operates in the United States under the supervision of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, positioned itself as one of the central players in this segment after obtaining regulatory approval to offer contracts on electoral outcomes and other high-profile events.
If the round is completed on the terms described, the company will have tripled its valuation in less than a year, cementing its place as one of the fastest-growing platforms in the alternative finance ecosystem.
