This Thursday, Bottomline announced it is teaming up with Chainlink to enable cross-border and cross-chain payment capabilities across its institutional network. The company, considered one of the top three Swift service providers in the world, annually processes over $16 trillion in financial transactions for more than 600 client banking institutions.

The integration leverages the Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP) and the Chainlink Runtime Environment (CRE) as an orchestration and interoperability layer. Thanks to this architecture, banks will be able to connect with public and permissioned blockchain networks via the ISO 20022 financial messaging standard, without having to modify their core operating systems, reducing common friction points such as settlement delays and manual reconciliations.

This deployment solidifies Chainlink’s institutional adoption across the international banking system and opens the door to global-scale tokenized settlements. The next phase envisions rolling out the first pilot flows between financial institutions connected to Bottomline’s network.
