On Monday, Fanatics formalized the purchase of Water Street Labs and CX Clearinghouse, until now subsidiaries of the financial conglomerate BGC Group. Financial details were not disclosed in the official corporate statement. With this operation, the company aims to internally manage the structuring and settlement of its instruments. According to market reports, the acquisition grants the firm operational sovereignty over its technological architecture in a segment seeing growing activity across sports, finance, and digital assets.

The Fanatics Markets division launched operations in December 2025. As of July 2026, the platform offers its services to users in 23 states and four U.S. territories through mobile applications and its website.

Integration of Regulated Infrastructure and Market Data

The transaction makes it possible to connect Fanatics’ retail user base with institutional trading platforms. Official information indicates that the integration of licenses facilitates the rollout of new derivatives without relying on third-party infrastructure providers.

Additionally, BGC Group will maintain a strategic alliance to supply market analysis and analytical data. The collaboration plans to combine sentiment metrics obtained from event contracts with traditional financial market data flows.

The event-based derivatives sector has shown significant regulatory shifts throughout 2026. The CFTC’s updated criteria regarding these contracts accelerated the entry of brokerages and sports brands into this market.

The completion of the operational transfer and the technological migration of the clearinghouse are set for the third quarter of 2026.
