Bybit announced the launch of a platform that will be operated locally in Indonesia, after acquiring a majority stake in digital asset firm PT Enkripsi Teknologi Handal, formerly known as NOBI.

With the deal finalized, NOBI was rebranded as Bybit Indonesia and the exchange plans to roll out its services in a phased manner, starting with 500 cryptocurrency trading pairs.

The platform will be led by Lawrence Samantha as CEO and Dionisius Evan as chief operating officer, both former senior executives at NOBI. “This acquisition allows us to combine Bybit’s international capabilities with an experienced local team that understands Indonesia’s market and regulatory environment,” Samantha stated in a press release.

The deal positions the exchange in one of Asia’s largest crypto markets. According to Indonesia’s Financial Services Authority, the country recorded 21.07 million crypto asset users as of February 2026, with total transaction volume reaching $26.85 billion in 2025.

As of April this year, Indonesia had 31 actively licensed crypto entities, including two exchanges, two clearing institutions, two custodians and 25 digital asset operators, among them PT Enkripsi Teknologi Handal.
