Ripple released 1 billion XRP as part of its monthly escrow system, according to data from on-chain tracker Whale Alert. The transfers were distributed across three transactions: one of 500 million XRP valued at approximately $666 million, a second of 400 million for around $533 million, and a third of 100 million for about $133 million, with a total value exceeding $1.33 billion at current prices.

Ripple’s escrow mechanism is tied to the original XRP distribution structure and is closely monitored by the market. The XRP Ledger’s maximum supply is 100 billion tokens, of which approximately 61.85 billion are circulating in the open market as of early June, with an estimated locked balance of 38.15 billion XRP following the latest monthly release.

However, Ripple typically re-locks into escrow the portion it does not plan to use or sell, as Chief Technology Officer David Schwartz has explained on previous occasions, which means the monthly release does not automatically translate into additional circulating supply.
