TL;DR:

  • An unidentified investor acquired 200 million DOGE worth approximately $14 million through Robinhood on July 19.
  • Dogecoin derivatives market volumes surged 114% to reach $740 million.
  • Daily inflows into US spot Dogecoin ETFs dropped from a peak of $2.5 million in January to zero net flow.

The Dogecoin price is hovering near $0.073 after recording massive purchases by large whales in mid-July. The market price sits at its lowest levels since November 2023, following a contraction of nearly 90% from its 2021 all-time high.

The transaction on July 19 involved the transfer of 200 million DOGE on the Robinhood platform. The latest derivatives market report indicates that open interest simultaneously topped $1.1 billion. Analysts tracking the TD Sequential technical indicator suggest that consecutive buy signals historically coincide with bottom zones, though this pattern offers no guarantee of a reversal.

On the social front, Elon Musk’s interaction with a post featuring the Doge meme sparked speculation among users. Data from Whale Insider notes that this was the businessman’s first interaction with the topic in months. Public blockchain documentation, however, links no wallet belonging to the magnate to the recent transaction.

Technical and Institutional Market Behavior

Institutional activity shows a different trend from that observed among large private holders. Glassnode data suggests that net inflows into spot ETFs remained at zero for two consecutive weeks.

This pause in institutional funds coincides with a contraction in weekly trading volume. According to the current trend, the cryptocurrency’s price is testing the support zone located between $0.056 and $0.07. A firm breakout above the descending trendline would mark the chart’s first structural change in 19 months.

For a recovery to consolidate, the market will require a substantial increase in daily volume. RSI indicator readings show a recovery toward neutral territory after deeply oversold levels in June.

The first major resistance level for the asset sits at $0.082, followed by the psychological $0.10 zone. The evolution of derivative flows will determine whether the price breaks the current resistance or revisits its 2023 lows.
