A couple around 50 years old suffered a robbery of approximately €900,000 (nearly $1 million) in Bitcoin following a violent home invasion in Le Chesnay, a town near Versailles, France. According to broadcaster TF1, three men who identified themselves as police officers gained entry to the residence and, once inside, produced a knife and threatened to attack the woman unless her partner transferred the funds to a wallet under their control.
The Versailles public prosecutor’s office confirmed the theft of the cryptocurrencies and indicated that the investigation was handed over to the Brigade de Répression du Banditisme (BRB), a specialized unit of the French security forces.
