TL;DR

  • Kalshi launched its Midterms Hub, a real-time odds tool for the U.S. Senate and House elections taking place this November.
  • The platform recorded $31 billion in notional trading volume in June, a jump of more than 70% compared to May.
  • Kalshi is targeting a $40 billion valuation in its upcoming funding round, nearly double the previous $22 billion.

The prediction market Kalshi launched its Midterms Huba tool designed to display real-time market probabilities for each individual U.S. Senate and House of Representatives race, ahead of the November elections. The platform aims to establish itself as the primary reference for electoral odds in the country.

According to the company’s press release, the hub offers a live snapshot of the positions users are willing to take at any given moment. “It is designed as the single destination for state and federal electoral forecasting,” the company stated. The results are based on the latest probabilities from each market and are presented on an interactive map of the United States.

In addition to market odds, the hub incorporates polling averages so users can compare what statistical surveys say against actual bets, the latest candidate fundraising reports from the Federal Election Commission, and a selection of news and analysis from various outlets.

Kalshi is expanding rapidly and appears to have no ceiling. In June, the platform recorded $31 billion in notional trading volume, a growth of more than 70% compared to May. Sports contracts accounted for around 85% of that total, as volume was heavily tied to the soccer World Cup, reaching $22.42 billion.

The hub is part of an electoral strategy. In May, the company introduced the American Power Index, which it described as the “S&P 500 of politics,” designed to track which political party is on the rise and which is on the decline.

Beyond the Elections

On another front, Kalshi is advancing its regulatory disputes and licensing efforts. The company is seeking approval from the Commodity Futures Trading Commission to expand its perpetual contracts beyond the crypto universe, including trading in precious metals such as gold, silver, and platinum, according to Bloomberg.

Adding to this, the firm has reportedly begun efforts to raise capital at a valuation of approximately $40 billion, nearly double the $22 billion it was targeting in its previous funding round.
