Federal agents arrested Zyaire Dontaevious Zamarion Wilkins, 21, of North Lauderdale, on Tuesday after FBI agents accused him of joining a video game malware conspiracy that drained at least $220,000 from crypto victims. The complaint says Wilkins financed, procured and helped market infected games, making game distribution the alleged entry point for wallet theft.
According to the complaint, Wilkins and others allegedly launched eight malware-embedded games from May 2024 to February, infecting about 8,000 customers and gaining unauthorized access to roughly 80 cryptocurrency wallets. Agents said the group promoted the games across Discord, Telegram, X and LinkedIn, while bots targeted people with large crypto holdings, turning social marketing into a wallet-draining attack surface.
Investigators said chats showed Wilkins bought a remote access trojan for $10,000 and discussed “draining campaigns” with a primary developer. The next step is the federal court process, including whether the case moves to Washington state, because the allegations now connect consumer gaming malware to organized crypto-theft enforcement.
