TL;DR

  • Dogecoin Labs has launched with the backing of the Dogecoin Foundation, bringing MyDoge, DogeOS, and Such App together under one organization.
  • The company aims to expand DOGE’s use in payments, commerce, decentralized finance, and gaming.
  • DOGE has struggled to attract sustained investment through traditional financial products. Bitwise announced plans to close its DOGE ETF.

Dogecoin Labs launched with the backing of the Dogecoin Foundation to develop applications and services that expand the use of DOGE. The new organization brings together MyDoge, DogeOS, and Such App under the leadership of Jordan Jefferson, who has taken over as CEO.

The company will operate independently and focus on payments, commerce, decentralized finance (DeFi), gaming, and consumer applications. The Foundation will continue to oversee open-source development and the ecosystem.

Jefferson said Dogecoin has a combination of liquidity, community, and cultural reach that remains largely untapped. According to the executive, the new organization will bring together the project’s leading developers.

One of the new company’s main components is MyDoge, a wallet with more than 500,000 users, according to figures released in the announcement.

It also includes DogeOS, a platform for developing applications compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM). Its public testnet launched on September 30, allowing developers to build products for DOGE users.

The third component is Such App, developed by House of Doge and Brag House. The application offers merchant payment solutions, invoicing, and in-person payments through QR codes.

The integration will allow all three projects to operate under a single corporate structure to develop DOGE-based services.

Bitwise Closes Its Dogecoin ETF

The launch was announced shortly after Bitwise announced plans in September to close its Dogecoin ETF, a product that failed to attract sufficient investor demand.

Hunter Horsley, CEO of Bitwise, later explained that the fund’s performance highlighted differences between investors who use cryptocurrency ETFs and those who trade through specialized crypto applications.

Jefferson had already stated months earlier that DOGE’s development needed to move beyond its reliance on public statements from Elon Musk.

During the Consensus Miami conference, the executive discussed the arrival of new teams, investment opportunities, and applications that could expand the network’s use cases.
