Figment expanded its integration with Zodia Custody, institutional digital asset custodian and indirect subsidiary of Standard Chartered Bank, to incorporate full support for Ethereum’s Pectra upgrade.
The integration between Figment and Zodia offers faster withdrawals, validator consolidation, and auto-compounding rewards for institutions seeking to optimize their ETH staking operations without taking on the technical management of validators.
Pectra is a dual-layer upgrade that improves both the execution layer and the consensus layer. Three of the most relevant changes for institutional staking stand out:
EIP-7251 raised the maximum effective balance from 32 ETH to 2,048 ETH, enabling institutions to consolidate positions instead of running multiple validators in parallel; EIP-7002 enabled exits and withdrawals initiated from the withdrawal address, without relying on pre-signed messages from the operator; and EIP-6110 reduced deposit processing time from approximately 13 hours to 13 minutes.
Through this integration, Zodia clients can delegate their ETH to Figment’s validators while retaining full control from within their custody environment. Zodia retains the keys and the client relationship at all times.
Thomas Ozenda, technical specialist at Zodia Custody, highlighted that the integration allows institutions to operate “with greater efficiency without relinquishing ETH to a third party“. Figment operates one of the largest non-custodial staking infrastructures on Ethereum, holding Full NORS, SOC 2 Type II, and ISO 27001 certifications.
