CURRENC Capital announced a strategic alliance with Securitize Corp., a leading asset tokenization platform, to promote the tokenization of shares in publicly listed companies under an issuer-sponsored model.

The agreement establishes that both companies will work with selected listed companies that are evaluating bringing their shares onto the blockchain, while preserving the rights of the underlying instrument.

Securitize will provide the infrastructure for tokenization and capital markets, while CURRENC Capital will contribute with the firsthand experience of having gone through that process: in April 2026, Currenc tokenized its ordinary shares on Ethereum and Solana, becoming one of the first Nasdaq-listed companies to offer onchain holding of its equity.

Alex Kong, founder and CEO of Currenc, highlighted that bringing CURR shares onchain allowed the company to share a genuine issuer perspective with other companies looking to explore this path. Carlos Domingo, co-founder and CEO of Securitize, noted that public equities represent one of the next major asset categories to be tokenized, though he cautioned that the process must occur through regulated, issuer-sponsored infrastructure.

Among the potential benefits mentioned in the agreement are programmable settlement, around-the-clock market access, and new forms of shareholder participation.
