Coinbase will offer direct USDC trading in Brazilian reals (BRL) within its Advanced platform, eliminating one step from the conversion process and reducing by 85% the onboarding cost of USDC via BRL for users in Brazil. The announcement was published by Fabio Plein, director of partnerships at the company.
Until now, Brazilian users had to perform intermediate conversions to access USDC with their local currency. With the new BRL/USDC pair available directly on Coinbase Advanced, that process becomes significantly simpler and cheaper. Brazil is one of the most relevant crypto markets in the world, and the move aims to improve accessibility for millions of potential users.
The launch responds to the adoption of stablecoins on a global scale. In 2025 alone, stablecoins settled more than $30 trillion in transactions worldwide. The exchange processes around $1 trillion in stablecoin settlements per year, while Base, the layer-2 blockchain incubated by the company, moved more than $17 trillion in USDC volume during that same period.
