TL;DR
- Circle generated approximately $1.4 billion in revenue during the first half of 2026, while allocating $819 million to distribution partners and transaction costs.
- USDC surpassed $36 trillion in onchain transaction volume, representing approximately 77% of global stablecoin transaction activity in June, up from 60% a year earlier.
- Circle is investing in infrastructure, regulatory compliance and product development as stablecoin adoption expands and competition intensifies ahead of its November 4 earnings report.
Circle Internet Group reported approximately $1.4 billion in revenue during the first half of 2026, underscoring the growing commercial scale of its USDC stablecoin business. The company also disclosed that USDC processed more than $36 trillion in onchain transaction volume, reinforcing its position in the expanding digital dollar market.
The financial disclosure comes as stablecoin issuers compete to attract users, payment providers and financial institutions. Circle argues that maintaining a widely used dollar-backed digital asset requires substantial investment beyond simply issuing tokens.
Circle Explains Its USDC Business Model
According to Circle, approximately $819 million of its first-half revenue went toward distribution partners and transaction costs. The company reinvested another $473 million into infrastructure, compliance and product development, leaving roughly 7% of revenue as net profit.
The figures offer a closer look at the economics behind a major stablecoin issuer. Although USDC generates substantial activity, Circle must maintain the systems that support redemptions, blockchain connectivity and institutional access while distributing its product through external partners.
Circle Chief Operating Officer Kash Razzaghi defended this spending in a company blog post, arguing that infrastructure investment is essential rather than unnecessary overhead. The company has spent more than eight years developing its stablecoin operations, including the capabilities required to keep USDC accessible across multiple blockchain networks.
For the broader crypto industry, this model illustrates how stablecoins can connect blockchain infrastructure with traditional financial services. Reliable redemption mechanisms and integrations with regulated institutions can make digital dollars more practical for businesses that need to move funds across borders or settle transactions outside conventional banking hours.

USDC Transaction Volume Reaches $36 Trillion
Circle reported that USDC accounted for approximately 77% of global stablecoin transaction volume in June 2026, compared with 60% in the same month of 2025. The increase indicates that USDC has captured a larger share of transaction activity despite competition from established issuers and newer digital dollar products.
However, transaction volume does not necessarily translate directly into revenue. Onchain totals can include repeated transfers, trading activity and automated transactions, meaning the figure should not be interpreted as the value of unique payments or USDC holdings.
