TL;DR

  • August Rebound: Bitcoin ETFs added $189.3M on Tuesday, extending a two‑day surge that pushed August inflows close to $1B after recovering from last week’s $250M outflow streak.
  • Issuer Activity: BlackRock and Fidelity led the latest session, contributing heavily to the $951M August total, while Ether ETFs added $71.5M and continued their steady month‑long climb.
  • Bitwise Spotlight: BITB secured a $16.15M inflow, bought 250 BTC, and highlighted regulatory caution as investors consolidate.

Bitcoin ETFs continued their strong August rebound on Tuesday, adding another wave of inflows that pushed the month’s total close to the $1 billion mark. The latest session brought in $189.3 million, extending a two‑day run that has already delivered $487 million after Monday’s $297.6 million haul. The renewed momentum comes after a brief setback earlier in the month, when three straight sessions from Aug. 12 to Aug. 14 saw roughly $250 million exit the market.

Strong Two‑Day Rebound Resets August Momentum

The fresh inflows helped Bitcoin ETFs regain their footing after last week’s turbulence. BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust led Tuesday’s activity with $143.6 million, followed by Fidelity’s Wise Origin Bitcoin Fund with $23.9 million. Combined, the two sessions now represent more than half of August’s total net inflows, which stand at about $951 million.

Cumulative net inflows into US spot Bitcoin ETFs have reached approximately $52.28 billion, while total net assets climbed to around $79.3 billion. The broader market also saw strength from spot Ethereum ETFs, which added $71.5 million on Tuesday and lifted their August tally to about $345 million.

Bitwise Steals the Spotlight With a $16.15M Single‑Day Gain

While the large issuers dominated overall flows, Bitwise captured attention with a standout $16.15 million daily inflow into its BITB product. The firm immediately deployed the capital to purchase 250 BTC on the spot market, raising the fund’s holdings to 36,868 BTC and pushing net assets to $2.38 billion. Bitwise’s total assets under management have now surpassed $15 billion.

The company’s leadership highlighted the inflow publicly, but the celebratory tone was quickly balanced by regulatory caution. Because US spot crypto ETFs are not covered by the Investment Company Act of 1940, executives must remind investors of the product’s risks and lack of traditional protections. That compliance backdrop has become more visible as smaller competitors, including Hashdex’s ETF, shut down and investors consolidate into larger, regulated offerings.

Tuesday’s broader market flows aligned with this trend. Across all US spot Bitcoin ETFs, total daily inflows reached $189.30 million. BlackRock’s IBIT led with $142.10 million, Fidelity’s FBTC followed with $41.60 million, and both Grayscale’s GBTC and Bitcoin Mini Trust posted flat sessions.
