HTX Rotates Wallets Across Four Blockchains After UK Sanctions

HTX rotated wallets after UK sanctions, pushing compliance teams toward behavior-based tracking across multiple blockchains.

TRM Labs said that HTX rebuilt parts of its on-chain infrastructure after the United Kingdom designated Huobi Global S.A., the entity behind the exchange, on May 26. The exchange remained active under the same brand while rotating hot wallets and funding addresses across four blockchains: TRON, Ethereum, BNB Smart Chain and Solana.

According to TRM’s analysis, HTX retired addresses and shifted activity to fresh infrastructure on rapid cycles, in some cases within hours. That turnover means static address lists can become outdated before compliance teams distribute them, while behavior-based attribution follows the operational pattern behind newly activated wallets instead of screening only previously identified addresses.

The UK designation creates asset-freeze and reporting duties for UK-regulated firms, but TRM noted that neither the United States nor the European Union had designated HTX at the time of publication. The next compliance test is whether firms can detect indirect and post-designation exposure as infrastructure changes, because wallet rotation is turning sanctions screening into a continuously updated intelligence process.
