TL;DR:

  • Intercontinental Exchange (ICE) invests in OKX at a $25 billion valuation and secures a seat on its board of directors.
  • The alliance will allow OKX users to access U.S. futures and NYSE tokenized capital markets.
  • Technical integration and the official launch of these services are scheduled for the second half of 2026.

This Thursday, Intercontinental Exchange (ICE), owner of the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), announced an investment in the crypto exchange OKX. Following this capital injection, the crypto platform’s valuation stands at $25 billion and positions ICE with a seat on the board of directors.

The significance of this collaboration focuses on the distribution of tokenized U.S. stocks and regulated derivative products to a global base of 120 million users. Consequently, OKX provides ICE with real-time price data for digital assets, while ICE will facilitate access to its futures and equity markets.

Thanks to this alliance, there will be a shift in how retail and institutional investors interact with Real World Assets (RWA). Furthermore, it reinforces both companies’ vision regarding the digitalization of traditional securities under modern and efficient blockchain infrastructures.

Towards a Hybrid Financial Infrastructure Between TradFi and Crypto

Star Xu, CEO of OKX, explained that this investment is the beginning of a deep collaboration, noting that the company’s presence in the U.S. is now a “blank slate.” He also stated that a constructive approach with regulators to build high-level market infrastructure is equally important.

For his part, Haider Rafique, an executive at OKX, highlighted the strategic chemistry between both firms regarding the future of tokenized securities. In this sense, the partnership seeks to definitively merge digital assets and traditional finance (TradFi) on the global stage.

In summary, this step consolidates ICE’s strategy within the blockchain ecosystem, following its recent plans to develop its own trading infrastructure. The full integration of these financial services is expected to become operational during the second half of 2026.
