The global blockchain solutions provider and commercial arm of the Cardano blockchain platform Emurgo have struck a partnership with crypto-friendly online travel agency Travala.com to drive Cardano’s ADA adoption.
Emurgo announced the partnership in a press release published on Tuesday, June 30. Now travelers can easily book hotels & travel accommodations worldwide using Cardano’s native cryptocurrency ADA on Travala.com’s online platform.
According to the announcement, travelers who make their bookings with ADA until July 31, will also receive 10% cashback.
Emurgo said that the partnership with Travala was an additional step to further accelerate the Cardano adoption as economies reopen and travel restrictions are lifted.
Travala.com, based in Lancashire, United Kingdom, is the world’s leading blockchain-based travel booking platform trusted by customers worldwide.
With the addition of Cardano (ADA), the company now enables travelers from all over the world to book more than 2 million properties across 90,000 worldwide destinations in 230 countries and territories, at competitive prices up to 40% cheaper than mainstream travel booking platforms with 29 leading crypto-assets in addition to traditional payment methods. Other notable crypto assets supported include its native token AVA, Bitcoin (BTC), Ether (ETH), Dash (DASH), Tron (TRX), XRP, and DAI.
Juan Otero, CEO of Travala.com, commented:
“We’re extremely excited to partner with an industry titan to boost ADA adoption. Travel is the ideal venue for mass adoption of cryptocurrencies and as we all start to travel again, Travala.com will continue to provide a frictionless travel booking experience to anyone, anywhere.”
As reported, such a vast coverage of Travala.com is made possible by a partnership with travel giant Booking.com and this could help Emurgo to fulfill its mission: drive the adoption of Cardano ADA.
Ken Kodama, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Emurgo, commented:
“As global travel begins to gradually resume, EMURGO is excited to partner with Travala.com to bring functional utility to Cardano ADA users. Being able to book flights, hotels, and other travel accommodations with ADA at over 2 million properties in 90,000 international destinations demonstrates EMURGO’s focus to drive real-world Cardano adoption.”
The use of crypto assets for travel payments, like in other payments, have also surged. According to the number provided by Travala.com, “60% of all bookings on the platform in the last twelve months have been paid in cryptocurrencies.” Over the past six weeks, the booking platform has recorded a 20% weekly growth in booking, pointing towards a gradual recovery in the travel industry from the global COVID-19 pandemic.
