Bybit to Halt Services for Japanese Traders Amid Regulatory Concerns

Bybit confirmed that it will gradually withdraw its services for residents of Japan starting in 2026, in response to the country’s regulatory requirements. The measure will introduce progressive restrictions on accounts identified as belonging to Japanese residents.

The exchange said the limitations will be applied on a rolling basis. Users incorrectly classified will be required to complete additional identity verification. Bybit is not registered with Japan’s Financial Services Agency (FSA), which requires local authorization to operate with clients in the country. In October, the exchange had already suspended new user registrations in Japan.

Japan maintains one of the strictest regulatory frameworks for the crypto market. Bybit is not alone, as other exchanges have chosen to follow the same path due to legal constraints.
