Pump.fun launched its new Mayhem Mode feature to increase token activity through autonomous AI agents, but the first week showed minimal results. The platform allowed agents to buy and sell new tokens for 24 hours, receiving one billion additional units to operate, and the excess tokens were burned at the end of the period.
Since the activation of Mayhem Mode, daily launches have barely increased from 17,300 to 17,800, while trading revenues have fallen 40–50%, affecting PUMP token buybacks, which trades at $0.0031 after plummeting 74% from its $0.012 peak in July.
Analysts warn that, without curation or ranking mechanisms, Mayhem Mode may generate “market noise” and favor artificial activity, making it difficult to improve and record token liquidity. The platform expects future adjustments to allow it to meet its goal of increasing visibility and performance of new projects.
