The cryptocurrency market is preparing for another week of high volatility. A new series of token unlocks valued at $1.01 billion is expected. This figure closely follows the $1.02 billion released the previous week, maintaining selling pressure on digital assets.
“Cliff” unlocks, characterized by releasing a large number of tokens at one time rather than gradually, will be particularly significant this week, totaling $188.74 million.
The most anticipated event in this category is the LayerZero (ZRO) unlock. The project will release $44.73 million in new tokens, representing a considerable 23.2% of the current circulating supply. This liquidity injection occurs at a sensitive time, with ZRO’s price trading near its three-month low at $1.77.
The released tokens will be allocated to strategic partners (13.42 million ZRO) and core contributors (10.63 million ZRO). Currently, LayerZero only has 33% of its total supply unlocked, with regular token inflows expected until 2027.
Meteora (MET) and Other Volatility Events
Although the LayerZero (ZRO) unlock is the most-watched “cliff” event, it is not the only one. The Plasma (XPL) project will also release a substantial $36.88 million (4.6% of its supply) on October 25. Joining this are Multibank Group (MBG), which will add $17.33 million, and SOON, with $14.43 million.
However, the week’s highest-volume event will come from a TGE (Token Generation Event). The new Meteora (MET) token expects a massive TGE unlock valued at $454.84 million. This event will release 43% of its total supply to the open market and will coincide with the start of its trading, suggesting extreme initial volatility.
Finally, linear unlocks (constant and predictable) will also add inflationary pressure. Worldcoin (WLD) will release $4.94 million and Official Trump (TRUMP) will add $4.18 million, steadily contributing to the circulating supply.
