TL;DR
- XRP Ledger’s fixCleanup3_4_0 amendment reached the validator threshold needed to enter its two-week activation window and could activate around October 23 if support holds.
- The LendingProtocol and SingleAssetVault amendments remain below the required validator threshold, so XRPL’s fixed-term, uncollateralized lending system is still inactive on Mainnet.
- The patch refines vault rounding, lending default logic and other transaction rules before users can access the proposed lending functionality in production.
The XRP Ledger is preparing to activate a bug-fix package before its lending system becomes available on Mainnet. Under the XRPL amendment process, rule changes need more than 80% support from trusted validators for two consecutive weeks. The fixCleanup3_4_0 amendment had reached the required 29 votes and was on course for activation around October 23 at 09:34 UTC if support holds. For readers following XRP, the unusual sequence means lending-related code can be repaired before users can access the lending feature itself.
Validators Move Bug Fix Toward Activation Before Lending
The fix package adjusts several parts of the network, including Single Asset Vaults and the proposed Lending Protocol. Changes include precise vault rounding and revisions to how the protocol determines when loans are late, impaired or in default. It also closes a separate permission loophole affecting token operations. The work builds on earlier XRPL lending infrastructure development. These corrections are preventive Mainnet maintenance because the lending functionality they partly address has not yet been activated.

The lending system remains behind its own governance threshold. The LendingProtocol amendment had 19 validator votes, while SingleAssetVault had 21, both below the 29 needed to start the two-week activation countdown. Even if either immediately reached the threshold, activation would still require the full consensus period. That gap follows the network’s validator vote on LendingProtocolV1_1. The bug-fix amendment and the lending launch are separate governance processes, so approval of one does not automatically enable the other.
According to the XRPL Lending Protocol documentation, the proposed system supports fixed-term, uncollateralized loans funded through pooled assets held in Single Asset Vaults. Credit underwriting and risk management remain offchain, while the ledger handles loan origination and accounting. First-loss capital is designed to help absorb defaults, and the current implementation does not include automated onchain collateral liquidation. The architecture therefore combines onchain credit execution with offchain borrower assessment rather than replicating collateralized DeFi lending models.
The approaching fix also highlights how XRPL governance can modify transaction-processing rules before dependent features launch. Validators can change their votes, and losing the required supermajority before the two-week window finishes would restart the countdown. Previous XRPL maintenance amendments have similarly bundled corrections across multiple protocol areas. If support for fixCleanup3_4_0 remains above the threshold, the network can activate the patch first while lending continues waiting for separate validator approval.
