Vitalik Buterin shook the crypto market with a series of onchain transactions. These operations align with the pattern the Ethereum co-founder has repeated for years: selling the memecoins sent to him as gifts and redirecting those funds toward charitable causes or ecosystem infrastructure.

According to data from Onchain Lens and Arkham, Buterin sold a new batch of low-cap tokens that had been sent to his wallet, obtaining approximately 14.5 ETH, equivalent to just over $30,000 at the current exchange rate. The Ethereum creator has stated on numerous occasions that he does not wish to receive this type of asset and that developers should donate them directly to charitable organizations.

The community vividly remembers the 2021 Shiba Inu episode, when Buterin donated SHIB tokens valued at $1 billion. Part of that donation, around $500 million in that token, was received by the Future of Life Institute, an organization that used the funds for political lobbying on artificial intelligence — a decision Vitalik publicly criticized.

Buterin also transferred 70,000 USDC and 44 ETH — roughly $92,000 in total — to the Railgun protocol, a privacy tool built on ZK-SNARKs. Buterin has publicly maintained that privacy is a fundamental human right, and his recurring use of Railgun is consistent with that position.
