The U.S. government transferred 9,261 Bitcoin (BTC), worth approximately $770 million, to Coinbase Prime. The funds originated from seizures linked to cyberattacks and other activities investigated by federal authorities.
According to Galaxy Research, the transfers took place over the past two days. Approximately half of the BTC came from assets recovered from the Bitfinex hack, while another portion was linked to previously identified Binance seizures.

The firm also identified 2,456 BTC of previously unknown origin, sent to a government seizure address on Coinbase Prime. These funds could represent new seizures carried out by U.S. authorities.
Coinbase Prime has provided custody services for seized assets to the U.S. Marshals Service since 2024.
Government Bitcoin transfers often spark speculation about potential sales. However, the movement of funds does not confirm any liquidation.
A potential sale would also conflict with the executive order signed by Donald Trump in March 2025, which established that seized Bitcoin should be incorporated into the U.S. Strategic Bitcoin Reserve rather than sold.
In July, authorities had already transferred approximately $297 million in BTC and ETH to Coinbase Prime, originating from other cryptocurrency seizures.
