Two brothers from Texas, Isiah Angelo Garcia, 25, and Raymond Christian Garcia, 24, pleaded guilty this week to stealing more than $8 million in cryptocurrency from a Minnesota family at gunpoint after holding them for more than eight hours during a home invasion that took place in September 2025. The case was reported by the United States Department of Justice.

According to court documents, the brothers traveled from Waller, Texas, to Grant, Minnesota, on September 19, 2025, where they zip-tied family members and demanded access to their cryptocurrency accounts. Isiah Garcia then transported one of the victims to a cabin in northern Minnesota to retrieve additional storage devices and complete the transfer of funds. Both used firearms to threaten the victims throughout the entire operation.

The episode ended when the victim’s son called 911. Investigators identified the brothers through items left at the scene and arrested them near Houston. Each faces up to 20 years in federal prison and agreed to pay more than $8 million in restitution. A sentencing date has not yet been set. For now, cases of physical violence linked to cryptocurrencies show no signs of slowing down in the near term.
