TL;DR
- Aviva Investors tokenizes funds on XRPL, marking a major European win for Ripple.
- Ripple president Monica Long calls the Aviva partnership a big institutional win.
- XRPL has processed over four billion transactions with seven million active wallets.
Rippleās president, Monica Long, has described a recent development as a ābig winā for the company after major U.K. wealth manager Aviva Investors moved its funds on-chain via the XRP Ledger. The announcement came shortly after Long participated in XRP Community Day and an online Spaces session on X.
Long highlighted the progress being made toward positioning XRPL as a leading blockchain for institutional decentralized finance. She expressed enthusiasm about Aviva Investorsā decision to tokenize its traditional fund structures using Rippleās technology and suggested that this move could mark the beginning of a broader trend. According to Long, 2026 could be the year when institutional adoption of tokenization and DeFi accelerates at scale.
Aviva Investors, a global asset manager and subsidiary of Aviva Plc, recently entered into a strategic partnership with Ripple aimed at bringing conventional financial assets onto the blockchain. Under this collaboration, Ripple will support the firm in tokenizing traditional fund structures and transitioning them onto XRPL infrastructure. This marks Rippleās first partnership of this kind in Europe, expanding its institutional footprint beyond the U.S. and Asia.
Through the integration with XRPL, Aviva Investors will gain access to a range of blockchain-native features, including compliance mechanisms and enhanced transparency. Since its launch in 2012, the XRP Ledger has processed more than four billion transactions, supports over seven million active wallets, and operates with backing from approximately 120 validators.
Ripple has also introduced a new Token Escrow feature on XRPL, extending native escrow functionality beyond XRP to Trustline-based tokens and Multi-Purpose Tokens. The company believes such infrastructure upgrades will further encourage financial institutions to tokenize assets and operate on-chain as part of a growing industry trend.
With institutional players beginning to explore blockchain-based fund structures, Rippleās leadership sees this momentum as a signal that large-scale tokenization could become a defining narrative for the sector in the coming year.
