Revolut’s Gibraltar-based subsidiary has received regulatory permission to conduct distributed ledger technology activities under Part 7 of Gibraltar’s Financial Services Act. The approval expands Revolut’s regulated cryptocurrency services, with the company now authorized locally to execute virtual asset orders, provide custody and offer staking services.
The authorization comes as Revolut fully resumes opening accounts for Gibraltar residents following engagement with the Gibraltar Government and Financial Services Commission. New customers can again access the group’s electronic money and payments app, while the virtual asset permission broadens the range of crypto products Revolut can provide through its platform.
Gibraltar officials said additional DLT permissions were expected to be issued during the same week, pointing to continued interest from international firms. The next milestone will be how Revolut deploys its newly authorized crypto services in Gibraltar, as the approval establishes the regulatory foundation but does not specify a timetable for individual product launches.
