Polymarket unveiled its Protocol V2 this Monday, a structural upgrade designed to replace its prior architecture based on the 2019 Conditional Tokens Framework (CTF). Rajath Alex, the company’s Head of Protocol, explained that the new version unifies operations through a single ERC-1155 position contract, adopts pUSD as centralized collateral, and integrates an oracle aggregator compatible with UMA and Chainlink.

This technical overhaul eliminates approval fragmentation that previously constrained users and market makers, unlocking native support for binary, negative-risk, and combinatorial markets. With this foundation, the ecosystem achieves greater capital efficiency, slashes operating costs, and paves the way for future cross-chain expansion connecting liquidity and event resolution across diverse blockchain networks.
The rollout began with live testing via canary markets in October, with the definitive migration of new markets scheduled for November. As a next step, developers must complete their transition to the Data API V2 by October 24 to ensure continuous operational uptime for their integrations.
