TL;DR

  • Phantom will remove support for the Sui network on September 24, 2026, giving users less than five weeks to migrate their assets.
  • Sui’s TVL collapsed 82% from its peak of $2.58 billion in October 2025 to approximately $469 million, according to DefiLlama data.
  • Funds remain safe on the Sui blockchain and are accessible from any compatible wallet; Slush is the alternative recommended by the Sui Foundation.

Phantom Wallet officially announced that it will discontinue support for the Sui network starting September 24, 2026, giving users less than five weeks to move their assets to another compatible solution. The decision responds to the 82% collapse in the network’s total value locked (TVL), which fell from a peak of $2.58 billion in October 2025 to approximately $469 million, according to DefiLlama.

The wallet had incorporated native support for Sui in late 2024, during an expansion phase that drove the network’s TVL to its all-time highs. That growth proved short-lived. The sustained contraction of Sui’s DeFi ecosystem made it unfeasible, from an infrastructure standpoint, to maintain the active integration.

Phantom Abandons Sui: A Decision Driven by Capital Flight

According to the platform’s official guide, after the deadline the wallet will stop displaying Sui balances, processing transactions on that network, and including it in its list of available networks. However, funds will not disappear: they will remain on the Sui blockchain and can be recovered from any compatible wallet using the same recovery phrase. Phantom recommends Slush (slush.app) as the preferred alternative by the Sui Foundation.

For users who prefer to remain in the wallet until the deadline, the platform waived its own fee on cross-chain swaps from native SUI to wrapped SUI on Solana. Network and exchange fees still apply.

This is not the first integration Phantom has decided to end. The wallet also discontinued support for Monad, which shows that it is carrying out a strategic cleanup aimed at directing its resources toward higher-traffic networks: Solana, Ethereum, Base, and Bitcoin.

The Future of Sui and What It Means for Investors

For SUI users, Phantom’s exit could add complexity in terms of accessibility at a time when the network is already dealing with declining developer activity and capital outflows. Sui retains significant technological strengths: its Move-based architecture, its parallel execution model, and a portfolio of institutional products under development, including the exploration of ETFs in certain markets.

Recovery will depend on whether new applications, the growth of stablecoins, or new capital inflows manage to reverse the TVL trend before other infrastructure partners follow Phantom’s path.
