TL,DR
- Oracle will integrate with Swift’s blockchain ledger to connect banks’ tokenized deposit systems in interbank transactions.
- The technology includes Blockchain Platform and Digital Assets Data Nexus as a pre-integrated foundation for connecting to Swift’s ledger.
- Banking Payments will link blockchain-based payment flows with existing ISO 20022 processing at financial institutions.
Oracle will integrate with Swift’s blockchain ledger to allow banks to connect their tokenized deposit systems and incorporate them into traditional payment flows.
The initiative aims to enable financial institutions to operate their own tokenized deposit infrastructures while sustaining their conventional payments and digital asset operations from a unified operating model.
Swift’s ledger will coordinate payment activity between banks, allowing institutions to use tokenized deposits hosted on their own ledgers in interbank transactions. According to the software firm, this approach facilitates real-time cross-border payments, programmable payment services and digital asset transactions, all within parameters of security, governance and regulatory compliance.
Oracle Leverages the Full Power of its Technology Stack
Oracle Blockchain Platform and Oracle Digital Assets Data Nexus will form the pre-integrated technical foundation for the connection with Swift‘s ledger. This infrastructure will be able to host Swift commitment contracts and support event orchestration, while also offering EVM-compatible blockchain infrastructure, wallet custody capabilities, transaction signing, integrations and smart contract functionality for tokenized deposit operations.
Oracle Banking Payments, in turn, will connect those blockchain-based payment flows with ISO 20022 processing currently in place at institutions. The company stated that its technology can coordinate payment and blockchain events throughout the lifecycle of Swift’s ledger through durable workflows and transaction coordination, which helps institutions maintain operational consistency and resilience.
A Long-Standing Collaboration
The integration is the result of the longstanding collaboration between both firms on payment modernization. Earlier this year, Oracle had already announced that its payments application received the Swift Compatible Application certification, a milestone that paved the way for the current agreement.
