Moscow Exchange plans to launch trading in digital currencies on December 1, 2026, creating what it describes as Russia’s first organized digital currency market under Federal Law No. 282-FZ. The initial lineup will include Bitcoin, Ether and USDT, with both addressed and non-addressed trading modes. The rollout marks a planned shift from crypto-linked derivatives toward direct digital currency trading on the exchange.
At launch, clients will be able to trade with TOD and TOM settlement, meaning same-day and next-day settlement, alongside swap transactions for liquidity management. Trading hours will run from 06:50 to 23:50 Moscow time, with transactions integrated into the National Clearing Centre’s unified clearing system. Retail access will remain restricted, with non-qualified investors limited to 300,000 rubles per year through one broker after passing a test.
The first stage will consist of pilot transactions, with participants joining gradually as they become operationally ready. Moscow Exchange also plans to expand the list of supported digital currencies and digital assets over time. The key milestone is the December 1 start of pilot trading in Bitcoin, Ether and USDT, followed by broader participant onboarding and potential additions to the market.
