TL;DR

  • KuCoin added support for the UBS uMINT token, which represents a tokenized money market fund issued by UBS Asset Management.
  • The integration allows institutional investors to use their tokens as off-exchange collateral to trade digital assets, thanks to DigiFT.
  • KuCoin mirrors real asset holdings in stablecoins to enhance liquidity and reduce risks, enabling efficient and secure operations.

KuCoin integrated support for the UBS uMINT token, the first to represent a tokenized money market investment fund issued by UBS Asset Management through its internal service, UBS Tokenize.

This integration allows institutional investors to use their tokens as collateral off-exchange to conduct complex trading in digital asset markets without transferring actual ownership of the funds. This is made possible through DigiFT, an authorized platform for managing tokenized real-world assets (RWAs), offering subscription and redemption services in both stablecoins and fiat currencies, all in a non-custodial manner.

The UBS uMINT token is built on the Ethereum network and provides access to cash management solutions backed by high-quality assets within a controlled risk framework. KuCoin mirrors these asset holdings with stablecoin equivalents, improving liquidity and lowering risks without compromising investors’ control or returns. This setup enables institutions to operate more efficiently while maintaining security and regulatory compliance through regulated third-party custodians.

KuCoin to Promote Widespread Adoption of RWAs

KuCoin CEO BC Wong stated that the partnership with DigiFT enhances accessibility to tokenized traditional investments, facilitating their use in global digital asset trading. Meanwhile, DigiFT CEO Henry Zhang explained that the platform builds institutional-grade capital market infrastructure for Web3, focusing on yield-generating instruments and regulatory compliance. The integration of UBS uMINT aims to improve capital efficiency through tokenized assets.

KuCoin plans to expand tokenized asset integration to promote widespread RWA adoption and build a more interconnected financial system. Its technology will allow a range of assets issued by reputable managers to serve as recognized collateral, providing institutional clients with flexible solutions to optimize capital use and increase returns.
