A court at the Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC) in Kazakhstan ordered restrictions against six cryptocurrency platforms that were offering digital asset services without authorization. The ruling also requires Google Play and the App Store to restrict access to their applications.
The Astana Financial Services Authority (AFSA) said it had filed lawsuits against the exchanges for operating without the required licenses. The September 15 court order named BingX, Bitcoin.com, HTX, BitMart, Coinbase, LBank, and WEEX.
LBank was subsequently removed from the proceedings after voluntarily blocking access to its platform in Kazakhstan. The court-ordered restrictions remain in place against the other six companies.
The regulator warned that users of unlicensed platforms do not benefit from the protections required of authorized operators, including rules governing asset custody, information disclosure, and complaints handling.
In 2025, AFSA notified more than 20 platforms about the AIFC’s regulatory requirements. Nine voluntarily restricted access to their applications, prompting the authority to withdraw its claims against them. Another seven indicated that they intended to apply for licenses.
Kazakhstan took similar measures in 2023, when authorities blocked access to nearly 1,000 cryptocurrency exchanges operating without the required registration.
