TL;DR
- Global Expansion: Kalshi partners with Alpaca to accelerate international access to event contracts through shared trading infrastructure.
- Regulatory Foundation: Alpaca’s new CFTC registration enables its global user base to trade Kalshi’s event contracts alongside other derivatives.
- Developer Ecosystem: Alpaca’s 83,000 API users and broad institutional reach support Kalshi’s long-term plan to scale event contracts worldwide.
Prediction market platform Kalshi is expanding its international reach through a new partnership with brokerage and financial infrastructure startup Alpaca. The collaboration gives Alpaca’s global network of institutions and developers access to the prediction market platform’s event contracts, using the same technology that powers trading for other assets on Alpaca’s platform.
Alpaca’s Regulatory Move Unlocks Event‑Contract Access
Alpaca recently registered with the CFTC as a U.S.-licensed futures commission merchant, clearing the path for its users to trade derivatives such as Kalshi’s event contracts. Chief brokerage officer Tony Lee said the company advanced into prediction markets because demand from users has grown. He noted that Alpaca’s mission centers on expanding financial access worldwide, and meeting customer interest is a key part of that strategy.
The partnership appealed to the prediction platform because of Alpaca’s global footprint. Vice president of business development Max Crowley highlighted Alpaca’s reach across more than 300 financial institutions and 14 million brokerage accounts. He said Alpaca’s infrastructure will help the prediction platform bring its markets online faster in new regions once local regulators approve operations.

Technical Integration Aims To Accelerate Global Expansion
Crowley emphasized Alpaca’s reputation for strong technology and customer satisfaction. He said the partnership will shorten the timeline for Kalshi’s international rollout, even though building a global business will still take time. The collaboration follows Kalshi’s June partnership with Wealthsimple to expand into Canada.
Alpaca’s developer community also plays a role in the expansion. The company has 83,000 monthly users of its Application Programming Interface, which allows individuals to build custom trading software. CNBC has reported that prediction market traders often rely on personalized automated tools to gain an edge, making Alpaca’s developer ecosystem a natural fit for Kalshi’s markets.
Long‑Term Growth Potential For Event Contracts
Yoshi Yokokawa, Alpaca’s co-founder and CEO, acknowledged that scaling Kalshi’s event contracts internationally will be gradual. Still, he said the influx of new traders could represent a meaningful opportunity for the asset class. As adoption grows, he expects event contracts to gain broader relevance among global market participants.
