TL;DR

  • Jito Foundation President Brian Smith says JTX plans a native mobile app later this fall, while perpetual futures could arrive later this winter after spot development.
  • JTX is also preparing an equities feature within two weeks and an onchain discovery tool built by two dedicated data scientists.
  • Smith says Solana remains strongest in spot trading but still has work to do in perps, where Hyperliquid has attracted centralized-exchange traders onchain.

Jito Foundation is accelerating the roadmap for JTX, its Solana-based self-custodial trading platform, with a native mobile app planned for later this fall and perpetual futures targeted for later this winter. Speaking at Digital Asset Summit Asia, where the official speaker page lists Brian Smith as Jito Foundation president, Smith said the team is prioritizing spot trading before expanding the product. The near-term strategy is to improve JTX’s spot experience first, then add mobile access and leveraged products.

JTX Prioritizes Spot Before Expanding Into Perps

Smith said JTX expects to ship an equities feature within two weeks, while the native mobile application is planned for later in the fall. Perpetual futures could follow later in the winter, although he did not give a fixed launch date. The sequencing shows Jito is treating perps as a later expansion rather than JTX’s immediate centerpiece, building on the platform’s self-custodial trading launch and its focus on spot execution.

JTX launched in July with spot trading across assets including cbBTC, SOL, HYPE and memecoins, alongside tokenized equities. The platform charges a fee on each trade, allocating 80% of revenue to the Jito DAO for JTO buybacks and burns and 20% to referrers. That fee structure links JTX usage directly to JTO token economics, reinforcing the governance model behind proposals to automate JTX-funded buybacks and burns while tying product adoption to token supply reduction.

Product development is also moving beyond execution. Smith said two full-time data scientists are mining onchain data for an in-app discovery feature intended to surface trading opportunities. He described JTX as closer to a “permissionless Robinhood” than a memecoin-first interface, emphasizing longer holding periods and competitive fees. Jito is positioning the product around a broader trading experience rather than the high-churn speculative flow associated with some Solana apps across the sector.

Smith acknowledged that Solana still has work to do in perpetual futures and credited Hyperliquid with moving centralized-exchange traders onchain, while arguing Solana remains strongest in spot. No trading-volume figures were disclosed, with Smith pointing instead to improvements in user experience since launch. JTX’s winter perps target is therefore an attempt to extend Solana’s spot strength into derivatives without abandoning the product identity Jito is building around self-custody, discovery and longer-duration trading behavior. The timing remains directional rather than guaranteed.
