TL;DR

  • HIVE Digital Technologies surpassed 23 EH/s in Bitcoin mining, a 283% increase, generating revenue to fund its expansion.

  • The company expanded its Grand Falls, New Brunswick campus to 32.5 acres, enabling up to 25,000 GPUs and strengthening its AI infrastructure with renewable energy.

  • HIVE follows a dual strategy: Bitcoin mining to generate cash flow and the development of Tier III+ data centers for AI.

HIVE Digital Technologies (HIVE) exceeded 23 exahashes per second (EH/s) of Bitcoin mining capacity, marking a 283% increase year-to-date.

This milestone positions the company among the industry leaders and provides immediate revenue to finance its transition toward high-performance computing (HPC) for artificial intelligence.

The company projects reaching 25 EH/s before the end of the month, supported by its 100 MW hydroelectric campus in Valenzuela, Paraguay, powered by the ItaipĆŗ Dam. Average ASIC efficiency remains at 17.7 J/TH, with mining margins exceeding 50% after electricity costs.

HIVE: Dual Strategy to Accelerate Growth

HIVE is converting its mining facilities into Tier III+ data centers ready for AI. The acquisition of an additional 32.5 acres in Grand Falls, New Brunswick, together with the 6 acres already owned, will allow the site to scale up to 25,000 GPUs. The facility will leverage renewable hydroelectric power, an on-site 80 MW substation, and a strategic location near Maine, establishing itself as a key node for high-performance computing in North America.

The company follows a dual approach: Bitcoin mining funds HPC expansion, while the new centers accelerate AI capacity in Canada, Sweden, and Toronto. By 2026, HIVE projects operating 36,000 GPUs, combining its current fleet of 5,000 units with expansions in Grand Falls, Toronto, and Boden, Sweden. The data centers are designed for continuous uptime and liquid cooling, targeting hyperscalers and generative AI platforms.
