The upgrade combines the Amsterdam execution-layer changes with the Gloas consensus-layer update, while Sepolia node operators must upgrade both execution and consensus clients before activation.
Glamsterdam introduces enshrined proposer-builder separation and block-level access lists, alongside gas-pricing and state-growth changes designed to support greater Layer 1 throughput. Validators and teams using builder infrastructure also need to review new duties and interfaces, while application developers are being urged to test contracts and gas assumptions against the revised rules.
Hoodi and mainnet activation dates have not yet been decided, so the October 6 deployment applies only to Sepolia. The next milestone is a successful Sepolia activation and subsequent client testing, after which Ethereum developers can assess readiness for later deployments on Hoodi and mainnet.
